UCI Extends Electricity Network to its TABO Lands

Ramallah: In continuation of developing its TABO project, Eng. Khaled Al Sabawi, General Manager and Vice Chairman of UCI announced that UCI concluded an agreement with Jerusalem District Electricity Company to extend electricity networks to its TABO lands. It was agreed to start the extension of electricity networks in the TABO lands located in Qarawa Bani Zeid (Qarawa Master Plan A) in Ramallah, where the electricity networks will cover 2,300m in that area.

Commenting on this new development, Eng. Khaled Al Sabawi stated: “Our main goal for launching TABO project in 2011 was to make a quantum leap in the concept of real estate development outside main cities in Palestine, therefore, not only did we work on the urban planning of lands located outside main cities (by preparing master plans for them, getting approvals from required governmental bodies, and finalizing registration and parcelation procedures), but we have also worked on the implementation of an integrated package of infrastructure projects in those areas. We finished paving internal roads in most of the TABO lands in Ramallah and Salfit, in addition to constructing model homes in different areas of the TABO lands. Here we are today proceeding to extend our TABO lands with electricity networks through concluding an agreement with Jerusalem District Electricity Company, which will begin its implementation in the TABO lands located in Qarawa Bani Zaid and then will move to other areas of the project.”

Mr. Al Sabawi continued: “The electricity networks extension to our TABO lands will largely benefit neglected villages and areas in the West Bank that have not previously had neither electricity networks nor paved roads. This is an actual move towards the reconstruction and rehabilitation of these areas to become residential cities and communities in the near future according to the latest international standards. The extension of electricity networks in Qarawa Bani Zeid and connecting them to our TABO lands in Farkha, in Salfit will cover an area of almost 4 thousand dunum. It is important to note we have made this investment to extend electricity infrastructure on our own and UCI will bear the cost of the investment. This takes place in an environment where other projects are received massive assistance from foreign donor states. We are proud that we have been able to maintain our financial independence.

Mr. Al Sabawi thanked and expressed his appreciation to Jerusalem District Electricity Company and its management, and he assured that UCI will proceed in implementing more model projects that contribute in building the pillars of an sustainable Palestinian economy.
